## AI-assisted development

I work with Claude Code as a daily part of my development process, not as an autocomplete. The value is in how the work is set up: clear written context, documented conventions, and a plan agreed before any code gets written.

- **Documentation as the interface** — Projects carry a CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md describing conventions, architecture and intent. Written context is what makes an AI collaborator useful instead of noisy — and it makes onboarding a human developer faster for exactly the same reason.
- **Plan before code** — Non-trivial work starts with a design agreed up front, not a guessed implementation. Surfacing assumptions early is cheaper than reworking later.
- **Verified, not assumed** — Changes get built and run before they are called done. AI output is reviewed like any other contribution — the accountability for what ships stays with me.
- **Agent-ready by default** — This site is an example: it publishes a live MCP endpoint alongside the human-readable page, so an AI agent can answer questions about my work and get in touch on a visitor's behalf.

## Background

I trained as a photographer before I wrote software — a diploma from ESRA, then several years working with images. I came to development self-taught, learning by shipping rather than by curriculum. Both still show up in how I work: I care how things look, and I would rather have something running than specified.
